Robert Curley, Caribbean Travel Expert

To see all Caribbean Travel articles, here (http://gocaribbean.about.com/). Islands have always been a part of my life: I was born on Long Island, and moved from there to Rhode Island -- my current home, centered on the richness of Narragansett Bay -- as a young adult. But I never had a true appreciation of island life until I visited the Caribbean. For me, that's the best part of being a travel writer -- learning about local culture and history, meeting the real people that give a place its vitality and character. Speaking of vital characters, the others in my personal story include my wife, Christine, son, Christopher, and daughter, Shannon. I'm proud to say that we're a family of readers, writers, and explorers, and I look forward to sharing some of our past and future journeys with you. Experience A freelance travel and editor writer for more than two decades, Bob Curley is the author of a travel guidebook, "Off the Beaten Path in Rhode Island," as well as hundreds of magazine articles for publications such as Coastal Living, Grace Ormonde Wedding Style, Meeting News, Business Traveler, Oxygen, and many others. Bob also is the editor of Caribbeanbob.net and is founder and publisher of RITravel.org. Besides travel, Bob's areas of expertise include health care, public policy, and nonprofit fundraising. Education B.A. in English from Hofstra University, 1987. Robert Curley My work as a travel writer has taken me to great destinations all over the world, but the Caribbean remains among my favorite places to trim sail. The nations of the Caribbean are remarkably diverse, from lush, palm-fringed beaches to brooding volcanoes, tropical playgrounds to desert islands cooled by the trade winds. For someone who cherishes history, diverse culture, and great cuisine -- not to mention a cold drink under a hot sun -- the Caribbean offers nearly endless opportunities for exploration, education, and entertainment. Wrap all that with a low-key, fun-loving lifestyle and great natural beauty, and I think you'll understand why I'm excited to share my passion for the Caribbean with you!
