St. Lucia 'delighted' to be top honeymoon destination

December 9, 2008

Opodo, UK - Dec 4, 2008

The St. Lucia Tourist Board has expressed its delight at having been named the world's leading honeymoon destination.

St. Lucia was one of a number of Caribbean locations to be recognized at the 2008 World Travel Awards, with Jamaica named the leading cruise destination and Grace Bay in the Turks and Caicos Islands voted the world's best beach.

The St. Lucia Tourist Board said the island's many natural attributes, such as its rainforests, volcanic Pitons and sparkling waters, make it a 'perfect choice' for honeymoons.

Tourist board spokeswoman Debbie Melchor said: 'We're delighted to have won the award for the "world's leading honeymoon destination" for the eighth year running.

'St Lucia has long been recognized as one of the most stunning islands in the world, and every year we're ensuring we meet the needs of our holidaymakers whilst remaining true to the beauty of the island.'
